WHO WAS THE GODDESS ARTEMIS?
The Greeks named the representative of the goddess of the moon: Artemis; the Romans preferred for her the name Diana, but both saw it as the twin sister of Apollo, the god of sunlight (see: Who was the god Apollo?) and they thought her like a lunar goddess of the hunt along with everything about the wildlife.
The great Diana was always painted by painters with a small moon on her head. She had ancient origins, even previous to the Greek and Roman culture. With other names she had in fact been the protector of pregnant women, the puppies of every animal and children still sucking the breast milk; so, although Diana believed the goddess of hunting and wild nature, she continued for many people to be the protector of children.
Lest we forget the goddess who protected the children and puppies from the earliest times, she changed the name again: Diana became the Epiphany.
The old lady that every year on January 6 brings sweets and gifts of any kind to the children, keeps in itself all the love that our ancestors believed in the heart of Diana, which he said stern with the male world, but very tender with children.
