WHO WAS THE GODDESS ATHENA?

Athena, this Greek goddes was seen in antiquity as the Goddess of Victory and Justice and was chosen by the Athenians as the protector of their city (the beautiful Athens). The Romans called Minerva and in a classic legend was born from the brain of Zeus, the chief of the gods. Although she was a warrior goddess Athena never fought for love of battle, but only for the triumph of justice.
A plant sacred to her was the olive tree, symbol of peace.
The city of Athens built for Athena, their patron goddess a magnificent temple, the Parthenon. They commissioned at the best sculptor of that time (perhaps of all time), the great Phidias, a giant statue in ivory and gold of Athena, demonstrating how its inhabitants, they were devoted to her.
